Top US Companies Investing in Solar

A recent article at RenewableEnergyWorld.com reports that the top 25 companies in the U.S. investing in solar projects on their buildings have now deployed 569 MW of capacity at 1,100 locations. That’s enough power for over half a million Ontario homes!

There are more than double the number of commercial solar projects since 2012. It’s one of the fastest growing sectors in the U.S. economy.

The companies investing in solar read like a who’s who of corporate America; Walmart, Kohl’s, Costco, Apple, IKEA, Macy’s, Johnson & Johnson, Target, McGraw Hill, Staples, Campbell’s Soup, U.S. Foods, Bed Bath & Beyond, Kaiser Permanente, Volkswagen, Walgreens, Safeway, FedEx, Intel, L’Oreal, General Motors, Toys “R” Us, Verizon, White Rose Foods, Toyota and AT&T.

In Ontario, both homeowners and businesses are also investing in solar at an increasing rate. Homeowners are taking advantage of the microFIT program, which produces a guaranteed income from your solar panels for 20 years. Businesses are taking advantage of the FIT program, which is designed for projects greater than 10 kW.
