How To Go Solar

How to go Solar

Congratulations on considering solar energy for your home! Making the switch to solar is a big decision, but it can also be a rewarding one. Here are the steps you’ll need to follow to get started:

Step 1: Determine if Solar is Right for You

Before diving into shopping for solar panels, it’s important to determine if your home is a good fit for solar energy. Consider the following factors:

  • How much you currently spend on electricity
  • The type of home you live in (do you own it?)
  • The suitability of your roof for solar panels
  • Availability of tax incentives and rebates in your area

The cost of solar in your region If it doesn’t seem like solar is a good option for your home, don’t worry – you may still be able to participate in community solar programs and reap the benefits of solar energy.

Step 2: Gather Information About Your Home

Once you’ve determined that solar is a good fit for your home, it’s time to start information about your home. By clicking here, you will be asked to input information about your home and hydro consumption. You can upload pictures and/or pdfs to help with your assessment. This will allow the team to confirm suitability and put together a project proposal outlining the basics, design, generation and financial analysis, as well as next steps to your solar journey with The Hayter Group.

Step 3: Find Out What Incentives Are Out There

As the solar industry has matured and proved to be a viable energy option, many incentives, rebates, and grants have been made available to home and business owners. These mechanisms can be used to help reduce the upfront cost of the solar system and improve returns on your investment.

Luckily, you do not need to go down that rabbit hole as we’ve put together a handy guide to current incentives available right here. If you have any questions about these options, we’ll be more than happy to discuss further with you.

Step 4: Install Your System

Once you’ve signed a contract and chosen a payment method, it’s time to sit back and let the team do what they do best.

Before installation, we will conduct an in-person site inspection to confirm the stability of your roof and make any necessary adjustments to the quote. We will also handle all the paperwork required for installation and interconnection to the grid, as well as assist you with any applicable incentives.

On installation day, you can expect a team of 3-6 team members to be on site. This can include electricians, installers, project manager, sales consultant all working to install the panels, get your system up and running, and answer your questions.

Step 5: Sit Back and Enjoy the Benefits.

Once connected and signed off by our team, your hydro company, and the Electrical Safety Authority (ESA), we can turn your system on. Once turned on, you can use the power immediately and export excess energy to the grid. So you can sit back and enjoy the benefits of solar energy.

We hope this guide has been helpful in outlining the steps to go solar. With the right preparation and research, making the switch to solar energy can be a smooth and rewarding process.
