Solar & Geothermal Open House

On November 9, 2013, The Hayter Group hosted a very successful open house in Cambridge, Ontario. This beautiful property features a 10kW solar panel array and a WaterFurnace 7 geothermal system.

The all-black solar panel array will provide the homeowner with a 20 year income stream under their microFIT contract. The installation does not take away from the esthetics of this beautiful country property.

The two 5kW Inverters by SolarEdge are installed neatly inside the barn. The system allows the home owner to monitor the performance of each panel on their home computer.

The WaterFurnace 7 which is very similar in size to a conventional furnace is shown in the home’s basement. The two large lines coming down the side of the furnace tie into the geothermal loop. The two smaller lines going up from the front of the furnace connect to the homes hot water heater. This unit supplies approximately 60% of the home’s hot water, another energy saving feature for the home owner.

The Hayter Group also installed a Honeywell TrueSteam humidifier and WiFi thermostat. The humidifier is 100% efficient, turning all water into steam (details below). The thermostat allows the home owner to monitor their home’s temperature from their smart phone. They can adjust their thermostat from anywhere!

You can read a more detailed description on the equipment installed below. If you are wondering if your property is a good candidate for solar panels or geothermal energy, give us a call today for a free assessment.

Geothermal Installation

This home features the new The WaterFurnace 7 Series™ Geothermal unit which provides both heat and air-conditioning. This was the first 7 series installation in Ontario. It will provide the homeowners the ultimate in comfort and performance. The 7 series is the geothermal industry’s first variable capacity residential unit and the only unit to surpass both the 41.0 EER and 5.3 COP efficiency barriers. These ratings are vastly greater than ordinary systems and 30% higher than current two-stage geothermal heat pumps.

Solar Installation

The home has a 10 kW solar system, utilizing aesthetically pleasing all-black panels. Inverters and optimizers are from SolarEdge.

SolarEdge was just 3rd party tested as the most efficient inverter on the market. The system features live monitoring on each individual panel so that you have the confidence every component of your system is performing at it’s peak.

The monitoring provides instant alerts by email, if there is ever a problem. This allows us to quickly and efficiently resolve any issue that may occur over the entire life of the system.

TrueSTEAM Humidification System

  • Delivers up to 12 gallons of moisture into the air each day.
  • Uses significantly less water than other whole-house humidifiers.
  • Moisture on Demand – TrueSTEAM works by producing its own steam independent of equipment operation, so your home gets moisture when you need it most.
  • Minimal Maintenance – Simply clean once a year with soap and water and the rest of the time it cleans itself automatically.
